British Council brings together Entrepreneurs from the Creative Industries
Since the launch of its first award in the UAE in 2007, the British Council’s YCE – Young Creative Entrepreneur programme has created a unique platform to recognise and encourage young entrepreneurs in the creative industries who contribute significantly to the cultural and economic success of the country.
To celebrate the success of this YCE programme, the British Council have invited to the UAE, award-winning UK film producer, Anna Higgs. Anna is founder and co-producer at an innovative production company – Quark Films, and is also one of the finalists of UK Young Screen Entrepreneur Award in 2010.
British Council, with the support of Shelter, will host Anna at the following venues:
25 July, 6 PM, Shelter Maraya, Sharjah
British Council and Shelter Maraya in Sharjah bring to you two short films produced by Anna, which will be followed by an exclusive Q&A with Anna and an interesting discussion on the makings of a creative entrepreneur.
Doors open at 5.30 and seats are offered on first come first serve basis.
27 July, 6 PM, Shelter, Dubai
British Council and Shelter Dubai bring to you ‘Do-Buy’, the award-winning film by Soniya Kripalani at the Gulf Film Festival 2010, which follows 3 Fashion entrepreneurs in the UAE, their struggles and achievements.
After the screening, eminent journalist, Philippa Kennedy, will moderate a stimulating panel discussion about
‘What a way to make a living: challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurs in the creative industries’
with key creative entrepreneurs from the UAE and the UK
